Carnival has always been part of our lives. Growing up around it, being on the road, and travelling to carnivals in London, across Europe and the Caribbean gave us a real understanding of what carnival means and why it matters. It is culture, freedom and community. When you step on the road, it should feel special.

 

After years of being part of Notting Hill Carnival, both attending and working behind the scenes, we felt there was room to raise the standard. The energy and love for carnival were always there, but the experience did not always match what masqueraders deserved. We knew it could be done better.

 

So we created Shiney Mas.

 

People often ask why the name Shiney Mas. For us, it represents that feeling of stepping onto the road and standing out. The shine of the costumes, the energy of the music, and the confidence that comes with playing mas properly. It is about bringing a premium touch to the carnival experience while staying true to the culture.

 

The idea was simple. Take inspiration from the carnivals we experienced around the world and bring that thinking to Notting Hill. Focus on the details. Focus on the masquerader. Create an experience that feels organised, enjoyable and worth being part of.

 

Shiney Mas is built by people who genuinely love carnival and understand what it means to be on the road. We know what masqueraders want because we are masqueraders too.
